Out 1 August 2025 via Venin Sound
Drawn to Distance marks the official debut of Bliss Venin, a cinematic band fronted by a mythic figure who lives between sound, silence, and story.
This slow-burning instrumental blends ghostly Gretsch guitar chords with shimmering piano and vintage drum machines, fusing dream-pop, noir Americana, and ambient film score.
At the emotional heart of the track is the unmistakable tone of a Gretsch White Falcon guitar, known for its bold, atmospheric presence. Played by composer and producer Zed Parish, its sound haunts the edges of the song, colouring the silence like a lost memory. The track began life as a minimal guitar sketch, but as the arrangement unfolded, a fragile piano line took centre stage, a shimmering motif that reshaped the emotional arc completely.
Parish describes it as:
“A transmission from somewhere else, like Morse code drifting through desert air.”
Beneath it all, the rhythm flows from classic Roland 808 and 909 drum machines, a deliberate choice that injects an electronic feel into an otherwise analogue track. Drawn to Distance is less a traditional song and more a threshold, the still moment before a journey begins. Spacious and intimate, it paints a world of fading headlights, empty roads, and solitary reflection.
Bliss Venin herself exists between myth and motion, a femme fatale glimpsed through dust storms, motel windows, and mirror reflections.
With Drawn to Distance, she doesn’t explain, she arrives.
